About FixWise Guides

FixWise Guides publishes step-by-step guides to common home repairs and maintenance jobs for homeowners and renters in the United States. Our goal is simple: help you understand a problem, decide whether it is a safe do-it-yourself job, and finish it properly, or know when to call a licensed professional.

Who runs this site

FixWise Guides is run by Mayank Pandey, a web developer and the founder of the design studio Waydesign (waydesign.in). Mayank is not a licensed plumber, electrician or contractor, and we never pretend otherwise. The site is a small editorial project, not a repair company, and we do not sell repair services.

How our guides are made

  1. Topic choice. We pick everyday problems that people actually search for, such as a running toilet, a GFCI that won't reset or a clogged drain.
  2. Research. We read manufacturer installation and troubleshooting instructions, product documentation, and public safety sources such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Fire Administration and the EPA.
  3. Drafting with AI assistance. We use AI writing tools to help organize research and produce a first draft. We tell you this because we think you deserve to know.
  4. Human editing and fact-checking. Every guide is edited by a person before it goes live. We check each step, tool list, safety note and claim against the sources above, remove anything we cannot support, and avoid inventing statistics or personal stories.
  5. Updates. When we learn that a step is unclear or wrong, we fix it and update the date at the top of the guide.

Images

Our images are either AI-generated illustrations, clearly labelled as such under each image, or photos from free-license sources, credited under the image. Illustrations are there to show the general idea; your fixtures may look different.

Safety first

Home repair involves real risks: electricity, gas, water damage, ladders and sharp tools. Each guide includes safety notes and tells you when to stop. Local building codes vary, and some work legally requires a permit or a licensed professional. Please read our Disclaimer and our Editorial Policy.

FixWise Guides may show ads served by Google AdSense to cover running costs. Ads never influence what we write, and we do not accept payment for coverage. See our Privacy Policy for how ads use cookies.
