This page explains how FixWise Guides content is produced and checked. If anything here doesn't match what you see on the site, please tell us.

Who is responsible

FixWise Guides is owned and edited by Mayank Pandey. He is a web developer, not a licensed plumber, electrician or contractor. Our guides are general information written for homeowners and renters, and they say clearly when a job should be left to a licensed professional.

What we cover, and what we don't

We cover common, homeowner-level repairs and maintenance: drains, faucets, toilets, caulk, drywall, doors, filters and seasonal upkeep. We limit electrical and gas content to safe checks (such as resetting a GFCI or turning a water heater to pilot) and point you to a professional for anything involving opening electrical boxes, gas lines or structural work.

How a guide is made

  1. Research. We start from primary sources: manufacturer installation and care instructions, and public safety and energy agencies such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), U.S. Fire Administration, U.S. Department of Energy and EPA.
  2. AI-assisted drafting. We use AI writing tools to help organize research and produce a first draft. AI is a drafting tool here, not a source.
  3. Human fact-check and edit. Before publishing, a person checks each step, safety warning, tool list and claim against the sources, removes anything that can't be supported, and rewrites unclear or generic passages.
  4. Sources listed. Each guide ends with a "Sources and further reading" section linking the references we relied on.

Rules we follow

  • No invented statistics, testimonials, credentials or personal stories.
  • Time and cost figures are given only as typical ranges, and your situation may differ.
  • When manufacturer instructions differ from our general guidance, we tell you to follow the manufacturer.
  • Safety notes come before the steps, not after.

Images

Most images are AI-generated illustrations and are labelled as such directly under the image. They show the general idea and are not photos of a specific repair. Any third-party photo is credited.
